Material Overview

Static Cling White Vinyl is a flexible, adhesive-free material made for temporary graphics on smooth, high-energy surfaces. Instead of using a pressure-sensitive adhesive, the film relies on its natural cling properties to hold against glass, acrylic, and other compatible non-porous surfaces.

Its opaque white background helps printed colors remain vibrant and reduces show-through from the surface underneath. The relatively thick 7 mil construction also makes the material easier to handle during installation than many thinner adhesive vinyls. Both manufacturer data sheets identify glass and acrylic as the primary approved surfaces.

Static cling can be installed using either a wet or dry method. A wet application is often helpful for larger graphics because it provides additional positioning time and can make it easier to achieve a smooth, bubble-free finish. Because there is no traditional adhesive, the graphic can generally be removed without adhesive residue.

This material is best suited for indoor displays and temporary outdoor window applications. Outdoor durability of up to three months. Please note that wind, rain, temperature, surface condition, and exposure may shorten performance.

Helpful Info

Helpful tips, recommendations, and best practices to get the most from this material before, during, and after installation.
  • Thoroughly clean and dry the installation surface before applying the graphic.
  • Can be used on vehicle windows, but only when installed from the inside of the glass facing outwards.
  • Wet application can make larger graphics easier to position and help reduce trapped air.
  • Always place the cling side against the application surface.
  • Static cling performs best on smooth, flat, non-porous surfaces such as glass and acrylic.
  • Temperature, wind, rain, and exterior exposure may reduce holding performance.
  • Store unused graphics on their original liner in a clean, dry environment.
  • Avoid prolonged storage in excessive heat or humidity, which may affect the material’s performance.
  • Test before using on specialty coatings, tinted films, or unfamiliar surfaces.

FAQ

Answers to questions about this material, compatibility, durability, installation, and applications

No. White Vinyl Static Cling is adhesive-free and uses the natural cling properties of the film to hold against smooth, compatible surfaces.

It performs best on clean, smooth glass, mirror, window, or acrylic. Other smooth, non-porous surfaces may work, but testing is recommended because surface energy and coatings can affect performance.

For vehicle applications, we recommend installing it on the inside of the window to protect the graphic from weather and road conditions. It can display graphics through non-tinted windows for outward visibility or be used for interior applications such as oil change reminders and service decals.

Static clings can also be installed on the outside of vehicle windows for stationary display purposes, such as at dealerships, trade shows, or vehicles on display. However, it is not recommended for vehicles in motion, as wind, rain, and road conditions can significantly reduce its holding performance and cause the graphic to detach.

Either method can work. Dry installation is convenient for smaller graphics, while wet installation generally provides more positioning time and can help produce a smoother result on larger window graphics. Wet application for easier bubble-free positioning with larger installations.

It can often be removed and repositioned, especially when kept clean and stored properly. Reusability depends on the condition of the material, the cleanliness of the cling surface, and how it is handled between installations.

Yes. clings can be produced for inside-glass installation so your graphic displays correctly when viewed from outside the window. This is the preferred option for vehicle windows and storefront glass because it protects the graphic from weather, road debris, and everyday wear while maintaining a clean, professional appearance.

For applications where the graphic will be viewed from inside the building or vehicle, we can also produce it in the standard orientation to suit your project.
