Calendared Vinyl

Calendared vinyl is produced by rolling and stretching the material, resulting in a thicker and less flexible film compared to cast vinyl. While it’s more affordable and suitable for flat or slightly curved surfaces, calendared vinyl is prone to greater shrinkage and shorter lifespan, making it a good choice for short-term or indoor applications.

Pros:

  1. Affordability: More cost-effective than cast vinyl, making it suitable for budget-conscious projects.
  2. Thickness: Thicker material makes it easier to handle and apply on flat or slightly curved surfaces.
  3. Availability: Faster production process allows for quicker turnaround times and is widely available.

Cons:

  1. Shrinkage: Prone to greater shrinkage over time, which can lead to visible seams or gaps.
  2. Limited Flexibility: Less flexible than cast vinyl, making it harder to apply on complex or curved surfaces.
  3. Shorter Lifespan: Less durable, with a shorter lifespan, making it less ideal for long-term outdoor use.

“High-performance” calendared vinyl is a premium option that bridges the gap between standard calendared vinyl and cast vinyl. This advanced material offers a longer lifespan and better durability than budget-friendly calendared vinyl, making it suitable for more demanding applications. While it doesn’t quite match the longevity of cast vinyl, high-performance calendared vinyl provides a reliable, cost-effective alternative for projects requiring enhanced durability without the higher cost of cast vinyl.
